My New Gear

My New Gear

I do a lot of hiking. Every day, I walk about 10 to 12 kilometers with my dog, most of it is "offroading" - through the woods, over very difficult terrain with extremely steep inclines. Lately, I've been having problems with my right foot, where I've developed a condition called metatarsalgia. This basically means that the ball of my foot hurts like crazy. So, my solution was to change the type of shoes I wear. I've decided to try out Salomon. I risked ordering the boots (Salomon Quest 4D GTX) over the Internet and the purchase paid off! The boots are absolutely fantastic! I've worn them every day for about a week now, and my foot doesn't hurt any more! I therefore decided to buy a pair of low shoes for daily use. I decided to buy Salomon x Ultra 2 GTX. I've worn them for quite a while today and they are simply superb! My feet don't hurt any more and the metatarsalgia has magically disappeared. In short, my feet are happy again :-))

Coin Pouches / Wallets

Coin Pouches / Wallets

I've always wanted to make some juice-pouch wallets, but I couldn't find these aluminium juice pouches anywhere! During the summer, however, one of the stores I shop at got Capri Sonne (Capry Sun) juice on sale, so I stacked up on them. I saved up all the pouches, washed them and dried them. Then, I started making these. Each wallet is made from two pouches that are taped together with clear duck tape and they close with a big hook-and-loop/velcro dot. The wallet has 2 pockets (one inside and one on the back). The Capri Sonne side is the lid and the fruit side is the back pocket. These wallets are absolutely fantastic, very durable and perfect to store in any pocket!

Spring Surprise :-)

Spring Surprise :-)

At the beginning of November I planted 400 bulbs that I got for free with some catalogue orders. I have crocuses, Siberian squill, mixed Dutch iris, anemones, golden garlic, grape hyacinths, hyacinths, daffodils, mini tulips, and Darwin tulips. I planted them in pots and I'm keeping them on the balcony during the winter. It's a glazed balcony and the bulbs have already started to grow, showing the green foliage. However, I have also decided to plant some crocus bulbs in a small bowl, which I keep on my kitchen window. And look at the surprise that I discovered a few days ago! :-) It looks like spring is coming early this year :-)
