Snowdrop Wonder

Yesterday we had a beautiful sunny day, so I went for a long hike through the woods with my dog. On my way back I found this little wonder: a snowdrop with 4 petals! And this is no garden variety of a snowdrop, but a proper, wild snowdrop growing in the woods. Usually, snowdrops have 3 petals and look like the snowdrop on the right. I have no idea why the snowdrop on the left has 4 petals. I've never seen anything like this before. It's one of Mother Nature's little tricks, I suppose. What a beauty! :-)
