The pumpkin month

October has finally come! I call it the pumpkin month, because pumpkins play a great role at this time of the year. They come in various shapes and sizes, colours and tastes. Call me traditional, but I still like the big orange ones best! They are an extremely pleasant sight and are nice and smooth if you touch them. And that's not all. These big beautiful "bubbles" can be extremely tasty, as well. You can make delicious pumpkin pies from them. In my country, however, we have our version of this delicious cake. We call it the pumpkin strudel. It's made the same way as the famous apple strudel, only you use grated pumpkins instead of grated apples. Those of you who are strudel-baking talented can try to make one! It's delicious! If made correctly, one can hardly tell the difference between pumpkin and apple strudel!

I also love autumn for another reason: the colours! Right now, we're still blessed with beautiful weather. The days are warm and sunny - perfect for long afternoon walks. I enjoy going out for a couple of hours every day, just breathing the fresh air and catching the last sunrays before winter. It's slowly getting humid due to long-lasting morning dew and occassional light autumn sprinkles of rain. The leaves are starting to fall off the trees. Those that are still on the branches make the scenery magic: reds, yellows, oranges, browns, occassional greens - what a sight! A great substitute for Visine eyedrops after a long day of hard work behind a computer! On top of that, you can see all the birds in the tree-tops better now, because their protective curtain of leaves is slowly fading away. So, if you have a chance, go out, take a pair of binoculars with you, find a tree full of birds, sit under it and start "talking" (and by talking I mean whistling) to them. Have patience and you'll soon hear them answering back!

Enjoy yourself!

    Welcome back.

What have you been up to lately? You've probably been too busy driving everywhere and haven't had time to write in your blog.

    Hey,

Nice to hear from you again! Yes, I have been busy. I've been driving around our capital (Ljubljana), practicing for my final test, which is coming up with warp speed! It's on Friday, so keep your fingers crossed!
At the same time I'm working on my diploma, so I have very little time for anything else.
We've also had some works done on our house, so time has just flown by.

How are you and your little animals in your garden? Birds still visiting? I imagine that now with spring turning into summer in Australia you'll have a real heaven Down Under for bird-watching. And what about foxes? Do they still pay you occassional visits? Do report on all the "animal news" around your house! And don't forget to post on some photos of the crazy ghallas or cockatoos doing mad stunts up in the trees! :)

Looking forward to hearing from you!

We haven't had too many animals visit lately except for the Brown Hares we see every day or so. We hope that they do not discover our new vegetable garden. We have neglected that in recent years but we have started it again a few weeks ago. I might have to construct a hare-proof fence around it.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I've replied to your comments.
