A Taste of Summer
Treasures from the beach :-)
I've found these three stones in my drawer today. I like stones very much. They come in all sorts of colours, but I like their shapes and textures even more. These three are completely black. They are so smooth and pleasant to feel that I've decided to keep them on my desk as a stress-relief thing: twirl them around in my hand and the results are better than with any Chinese meditation balls :-)
"Thomas can't see colours, but he can hear them and smell them and touch them and taste them."
"Red is sour like unripe strawberries and as sweet as watermelon. It hurts when he finds it on his scraped knee."

I ordered this book last week and it arrived yesterday. It's a very special book. It's called "The Black Book of Colours" and it's completely black, but it's about colours - about the way blind people experince colours. The book is written in Braille and it has black illustrations that you have to explore by touch. Of course, there's the white text for people to read, too, and the illustrations are visible, as well. The book connects the world of the blind and the world of the sighted people. It's fantastic! I just wish there were more such books available!
We planted these pansies last moth, when they were still very small and fragile. In a month, they have grown into big "bushes". We planted 10 bowls with these little flowers in a range of colours and the garden looks absolutely stunning :-)
We've always had irises in our garden. So far, we've had small violet ones, big dark-and-light violet ones and white ones. Last summer, we exchanged some plants with a neighbour. She gave us plants of several different colours and this yellow one was the first of the new irises to blossom. It's absolutely gorgeous!
