Operation Dog-Cam

I just got a brand new videocamera for my computer!! Yepeee! So, here's a little something about my new "Operation Dog-Cam".

I've been pondering the idea of getting a computer camera (or some other form of digital recording device) and the whole business seemed pretty amusing and interesting for several reasons. First of all, I could record (or make snapshots of) my family and myself and send them to our relatives to the States. This is something I've been planning to do for quite a while, but I never quite knew how to go through with it. Second, there's the possibility of making a video and putting it on the Internet. I could make a demo video of some brilliant skill or other that I possess and give a chance to others to learn and master it, too. But, ultimately, I just wanted to get a camera so that I would have something new to amuse myself with, some new project to get the hang of. So, today I finally decided to go through with it.

It was about half an hour till the computer shop where I buy my computers and stuff connected to the subject was about to close. I got into the car and speeded to the shop. Upon entering the place I suddenly panicked. How was I going to pick the best camera with such a wide range of choice? Well, my whole dilemma was solved when the guy in the shop told me that they only had one more camera left, because they were waiting for the new supplies to come in. So, naturally, I inquired about the price and asked him if the whole thing has voice-recording options and if it is compatible with my computer. When he confirmed, I decided to take it. When I brought it home, I was absolutely extatic about it!! Out my computer went and I carefully installed the device. I figured out how the thing works in a couple of minutes and already made a short video (about 8 seconds long) to test it. So, what else is there to say? Well, there is one more secret about my cam.

As you can see from the title "Operation Dog-Cam", the whole thing has to do with dogs - yes, you're reading correctly. DOGS. You see, the camera is actually placed inside a soft-toy dog, called Genius (or, at least, that's the name it has on the blue jeans it's wearing). So, the cam is perfect for me, since I love dogs!!! I wonder if you can guess where the camera (the lens) actually is...

Bored silly

Have you ever been bored silly? I mean, really really bored? And no matter how hard you tried to do something about it, nothing worked? Well, I'm having one of those times at the moment. Nothing to do... Although there's a million things waiting for me to start working on them: the appartment needs to be redecorated, the plastic garden furniture has to be cleaned, the hedge needs trimming, I have to mow the lawn before the grass gets too big for my lawn-mower, the car needs a thorough washing and (in the studying department) I have to brush up my German for an upcoming exam.

And yet ... I'm bored. I can't seem to get around to doing any of those things. I just sit around the house, sleep, watch TV or waste time on the Internet. I'm really starting to get on my nerves!

And yet ... I can do nothing about it, except wait for this "bored-silly phase" to pass. Actually, I guess the proper name for this phase would be a "post-getting-your-degree phase". All the action around getting my degree is now gone and I suppose it's like quitting drugs cold turkey: the rush is gone and this gets you down. Well, I've been told that the best cure to my apathy and not-being-able-to-do-anythingness is Snoopy's way: SLEEP and CHILL OUT!! I intend to stick to that (I really have no other choice, do I?) and hope that this magical cure will work!

Spring :-)

Spring brings out the best - in people and animals. For me it's a wonderful time. Everything is green again, trees are full of birds. I can finally sit in the back garden again, absorbing all the sunrays I can, breathing in fresh air. All that is even better if I have some company.

Well, here's a little video that proves that animals like company in their special moments, too. Enjoy!

Another cute video!

Here's another cute video - I think the parrot actually understands what's said to him :-)

Video as promised

As I promised in my last post, I will put up a video every now and then - just to liven things up a little. This is the first one in the series - and it was also among the first ones I saw when I discovered YouTube. It was made by Peter (or geriatric1927 - as he's known on YouTube). Since his "First try" he has made 70 videos and I enjoy watching them very much, because none of the videos is performed. All of them are made with a kind of spontaneity, there's no acting. Anyway, here's his first one and I hope you enjoy it!

For those of you who want to see more: go to YouTube main page and under "Search" type "geriatric1927".

I GOT MY DEGREE!!!

Yepeeeee!!!!! I got my Bachelor-of-Arts Degree!! Actually, I passed it a fortnight ago, but I have been too tired to do anything whatsoever up to now. So, with, a little delay, I announce to the world that I am now officially a Teacher of English! What a pleasant feeling after 5 years of hard work, indeed!
Now that I have some more spare time on my hands, I intend to return to regular blogging once again! I am also in the process of discovering the magic of YouTube, so perhaps (when I get the hang of it) you will be able to watch some videos here, too!
I'm waiting for some praises and congratulations from my worldly audience!! ;-)
