Swarovski Cross

I made this little beauty yesterday evening. I bought a set with Swarovski crystals some time ago, but I only found the time to make the necklace yesterday. I had to make everythig: the cross and the chain to hang the cross on (well, the pink ribbons were already made, of course, but I had to attach the clip myself). It took me about 2 hours to finish it, but now that it's made, I'm very proud of it!

My beaded ZOO

I recently bought a kit for making beaded animals (keychains). I made myself quite a little zoo: a crab, a giraffe, a centipede, 2 dragonflies, a teddybear, a fish, a snake and a duck (which is not shown on these photos, but I will post a photo of it here, too). The animals are quite big: 5 - 20 centimetres each. The kit contained enough material to make 10 animals, but I managed to make 12 (1 of the dragonflies - the one with the colourful wings, and a small man - not on the photos). I was having loads of fun doing these and I intend to make some more from other kinds of beads, too!

Incy wincy spider...

A couple of minutes ago, this little fellow was waiting for me in the bathtub. I just had to take a shot before moving him to a safe, dry location on the wall :-)

The shocking sunrise

When I looked out the window this morning, I saw a new day being born. The sun was just rising behind the tree tops and quite a warm breeze was blowing, so the magic moments were especially enjoyable.
However, when I leaned out the window, the view was frightening. A wall of dark, thunderous clouds was hanging over the beautiful sunrise. Gentle pink and bright red colours meeting a heavy curtain of dark grey, blue and even black... It was absolutely spectacular!

Green finch and siskin

Yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised by this sight: a green finch and a siskin came for a big lunch, and, of course, had nothing against a little publicity - so they posed for me in the seed bowl. I even managed to take the photo without the curtain between the birds and me, so the picture is not so blurry. When the siskin flew away, the whole family of green finches decided to have a picnic on my window sill. These birds, as well as the siskin, are otherwise regular guests on my seed bowl, but this year, due to the mild winter, they have decided to come to my window only now.

It's nap time!

The golden finch came back late in the afternoon - HE'S JUST COME BACK AGAIN AS I'M WRITING THIS (AND IT'S DARK ALREADY!!!)! He had a big and tasty meal and then decided to have a looooong nap. At the moment he's eating as much as he can in the shortest possible time before going to bed for the night :-)

A horse on a leash?!

Have you ever seen such a sight? A horse on a leash? Well, I nearly had a heart-attack when this sight appeared in front of our house. The little horse seemed to be pig-headed, so the master had to pull him down the road. Cute, isn't it?
Well, later I discovered that the horse was being taken to the church ceremony. On the 26th of December we have a traditional custom, where all the horses from near and far get a blessing from the church priest, in front of the church, of course. It's supposed to bring them health and good luck in the year to come. So, the little fellow was being taken to a horse-mass, but it didn't seem to be very religious :-)

The winter view from my window

This was taken when we still had some snow, just after Christmas. Winter wonderland... There wasn't much snow, but it was cold and the flakes froze to the branches. Magic!

The golden guest

I took this photo a couple of minutes ago. A golden finch came to my window for a hearty breakfast of sunflower seeds. It stayed on the dish for more than five minutes. I took the photo through the curtain, so the light squares that can be seen on the photo are the pattern of the curtain.

European Union Presidency

At midnight Slovenia has taken over the presidency of the European Union for a year! I'm so proud to finally live in an important country! Above, I've posted the Slovenian symbol, which has been chosen to represent our country in the year 2008. It combines the following things: an EU star, our highest mountain Triglav (pronounced as /treegluv/), the rivers and the sea. If you want a more detailed explanation of the symbol, click here. Well, I must admit: I've never thought Slovenia would come this far!! Good job!!!
Oh, incidentally, since 21st December we've got a brand new president of the country, too: Danilo Tuerk (ue = the "u" with the dots/Umlaut above it), PhD. He used to be the former Secretary General of the UN Koffi Annan's closest advisor, so he is an excellent diplomat and an expert on interantional law. I'm convinced that he will lead our country wisely!!! We made the right decision on the elections, I'm positive!
